Journey

In February 2015, during the third edition of the World Government Summit, the initial concept of the ‘Museum of the Future’ was unveiled, showcasing leading innovations and services envisioned for future governments. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum initiated the ‘Museum of the Future’ project on March 3, 2015, marking the commencement of its journey.

The project aimed to establish a global hub embodying Dubai and the UAE’s future vision, subsequently managed by the Dubai Future Foundation to institutionalize future foresight.

Commencing in 2017, construction of the Museum of the Future incorporated 3D printing technology. By 2018, the cutting-edge structure was completed, and it was officially inaugurated on February 22, 2022.

Hub

The Museum of the Future has established itself as a central hub for the ‘Global Futures Society,’ the world’s largest network of futurists. With 36 institutions from 17 countries joining, the Global Futures Society now boasts a membership of 40 of the most prominent futures institutions globally.

This collaborative platform brings together essential future design, strategic planning institutions, along with knowledge and research centers. The collective goal is to harmonize future visions, emphasize noteworthy opportunities, and formulate effective strategies to proactively tackle diverse challenges by anticipating and preparing for transformations.

Dubai Future Forum

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Chairman of the Executive Council, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, the Museum recently hosted the second edition of the Dubai Future Forum.

The 2023 session saw the participation of over 2,500 experts in future-related fields from 100 countries, collaborating with approximately 100 international institutions, think tanks, and organizations specializing in future-oriented endeavors.

Climate Future Week

‘Climate Future Week,’ orchestrated by the Museum of the Future, emerges as a significant initiative focused on elevating awareness regarding environmental and climate challenges. It actively seeks sustainable and innovative solutions to address these issues. Strategically timed before COP28 in the UAE, the event drew over 6,300 global experts. Its central objective was to highlight opportunities and challenges related to climate change, underscoring the need for comprehensive cooperation in developing effective and sustainable solutions.

The event’s distinction lies in its diverse array of programs and activities. Workshops, seminars, and dialogues explored various facets of environmental challenges, fostering knowledge exchange. Furthermore, the event showcased the latest sustainability technologies through presentations and exhibitions. Climate Future Week served as a dynamic platform for global collaboration, discussion, and the exploration of cutting-edge solutions to address contemporary challenges.

The Museum of the Future’s architectural uniqueness, comprising 1,024 stainless steel pieces created with specialized robots, covering 17,000 square meters, is highlighted. The Arabic calligraphy, conveying messages of inspiration and hope, was designed by Emirati artist Mattar bin Lahej. Inspired by the words of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the calligraphy emphasizes creativity leaving a lasting legacy and the importance of innovation in shaping the future. The Museum stands as a symbol of renewal, civilization development, and human progress.
