The Dubai Land Department has partnered with nine developers to bolster employment opportunities for UAE Nationals.
Steps have been implemented to increase the representation of UAE Nationals as real estate agents in property sales within Dubai. The objective is to ensure that between 10-15 percent of units in projects from some of Dubai’s leading developers are allocated and sold by Emirati brokers.
The Dubai Land Department has spearheaded this initiative and has enlisted nine major developers in the first phase, including Emaar, Expo Dubai, Deyaar, Damac, Azizi, MAG, Sobha Realty, Ellington Properties, and Al Bait Al Duwaily Real Estate Development. This initiative falls under the ‘Dubai Real Estate Broker Programme,’ which is overseen by the Land Department. The collaboration with these developers marks the inception of the program’s first phase.
The primary goal is to encourage greater Emirati participation in various job roles associated with the local property market. Furthermore, it will facilitate more UAE Nationals securing employment opportunities with developers in the program’s subsequent phases.
The agreement also entails cooperation on joint projects with the Dubai Land Department to “advance the real estate sector” and promote a “culture of innovation and sustainability.”
Upskilling chances
The partnerships are poised to offer guidance, professional training, and support to UAE National talents, enticing them to join the private sector and refining specialized skills to facilitate their entry into the real estate market.
“We look forward to collaborating with our partners in the real estate sector to achieve significant results that align with the esteemed status of Dubai’s real estate sector, both domestically and internationally,” stated Marwan bin Ghalita, acting Director-General of DLD.
The UAE authorities are expediting the creation of jobs and opportunities for upskilling among new batches of qualified Emiratis entering the workforce. Emphasis has been placed on the private sector’s role in fulfilling the established targets.
In recent years, the local real estate sector has become highly attractive to recent graduates, with significant representation of Emiratis in the workforces of leading government-backed developers. Now, the private sector is also being urged to contribute by creating more opportunities, particularly in the competitive field of property brokerage.
The ‘Dubai Real Estate Broker Programme’ has been initiated by the DLD to boost ‘citizen participation in the real estate market’.
“The program aims to encourage their involvement in real estate activities, thereby increasing their engagement in one of Dubai’s key economic sectors – the real estate industry,” the statement further explained.
